London, UK – March 10, 2026 – Hiro Capital co-leads the heavily oversubscribed AMI round alongside Cathay Innovation, Greycroft, HV Capital, and Jeff Bezos Expeditions, to drive investment and research in a new breed of Spatial AI systems that understand the world.
The investment will help drive AMI’s vision to develop world models that learn abstract representations of reality, similar to the mental models humans use to reason and guide action in the physical world. These systems predict how situations evolve, and how actions lead to consequences, so that they can plan sequences of actions under real-world constraints, with an emphasis on safety and reliability.
Luke Alvarez, Managing Partner, HIRO Capital said: “HIRO was founded to invest in the entrepreneurs and scientists building the next platform shift in tech – into Spatial Computing and Physical AI. Yann, Alex and Saining have assembled an extraordinary team at AMI and we are delighted to be backing their vision.”
HIRO is a long-term investor in spatial computing and a believer in the strong potential for Europe to be a leader in this new era of technology. In areas from Spatial AI, Robotics and Digital Twins, through to Defence and Longevity, we are moving from an era of looking at the internet to living in the internet.
Sir Nick Clegg, General Partner at HIRO, said: “It is the right time to invest in the science, and the researchers, who will forge the next frontier in Artificial Intelligence. The fact that the new generation of “world models” can be built in Europe only strengthens our enthusiasm as investors in AMI. I have known, and admired, Yann for many years and look forward to supporting him and his outstanding team at AMI as they start their important work in earnest.”
AMI has been built around world-leading scientific expertise and proven company-building experience. AMI is chaired by Yann LeCun, Turing Award laureate and pioneer of modern AI, and led by CEO Alexandre LeBrun, serial AI entrepreneur, Chief Science Officer Saining Xie, a leading researcher in visual representation learning, Chief Research Innovation Officer Pascale Fung, a pioneer in human-centered AI, VP of World Models Michael Rabbat, a leading researcher in world models, and COO Laurent Solly, who brings deep experience in global technology operations.
HIRO is delighted that both Yann LeCun and Laurent Solly are also members of the HIRO advisory board, helping to advise across our broader portfolio of opportunity, alongside other global leaders such as Malcolm Turnbull and Major Tim Peake.
The $1.03b AMI investment round at a $3.50B (~€3B) pre-money valuation was also backed by global investors and strategic backers, including Toyota Ventures, New Legacy Ventures, Temasek, SBVA, NVIDIA, Mark Cuban, Association Familiale Mulliez, Groupe industriel Marcel Dassault, Sea, Alpha Intelligence Capital, with significant participation from Eric Schmidt, Aglaé Lab, ZEBOX Ventures, Artémis, Xavier Niel, Publicis Groupe, Samsung, Bpifrance Digital Venture, Jim Breyer, Tim Berners-Lee and Mark Leslie.
